Treat Box

One of my friends asked if I would put together a box of goodies for her and her family for a little Saturday lunch and since I had absolutely nothing to do, I thought why not. There were a few recipes I wanted to try out so this seemed like the perfect excuse to share them and not eat it all myself.

Pasties

This time round I tried Cornish pasties which are pretty iconic so no pressure. I was actually quite surprised with how little ingredients were in the filling and that it was just all chopped up and cooked in the pastry, it was so moist and delicious and tasted pretty much the same as the traditional ones I’ve had before.

Sausage rolls

These are so easy, everyone should do it! It’s literally the recipe on the side of the Jusrol box!

Scones

What’s a treat box without scones? Standard Mary Berry recipe, though I might have made the top slightly more golden then I would have liked.

White chocolate and raspberry muffin

Once again a Jane’s patisserie recipe which was so easy and simple to follow. I have never made muffins but understand the golden rule is not to over mix it and keep it light and airy. I was really happy with the flavours and how the top of the muffin had the sugary crust you would expect!

Macarons

This is something I’ve wanted to bake for ages and after researching for ages, I found a nice simple recipe which wasn’t over complicated. I knew you needed to rest the Macarons before baking so that it gets a “skin” on top which means when it’s cooking it doesn’t crack but I had no idea how long I needed to wait so I did 3 batches and increased the time over all 3- result: just leave it as long as you can! Definitely want to try these again with a more exciting colour!

Overall loved putting this box together and I hope to try out more in the future 🤎
