Star Baker ⭐️

So that’s it 10 weeks, 10 bakes, done! I’m so proud that I stuck to the challenge of completing a bake inspired by bake off each week. It wasn’t without its ups and downs as I spent most of the weeks pacing the kitchen, or sat by the oven watching and waiting for it all to come together.

But I have to say, I have surprised myself throughout this challenge by how I have baked things that I’ve never heard of let alone know how they should taste or bake. Some of the bakes were also things that I love to eat like brownies so the bar was set pretty high by me and my tasters, but after some very stressful moments, I definitely exceeded my expectations.

My favourite bake was the pasties as I had just come back from Cornwall, the home of pasties, and knew exactly how I wanted it to be. It was the first time I had made pastry and combined baking and cooking to make the most delicious crisp pastry and rich filling. The family loved these and I think this is my mums favourite bake to date.

My least favourite bake was the steamed buns. They were well and truly out of my comfort zone as I had no idea what the textures or taste should be. However I learnt a lot during this bake including to just trust my gut and enjoy it.

One thing I will take away from this challenge is that I really do have a love for baking. Sure it’s all still pretty amateur and rough around the edges but I get so much joy in everything I do and I love seeing people enjoy what I have made for them, food always brings true happiness.

Of course there will be many more bakes to come, some I’d like to try from the show and some brand new ones. What would you like to see me do next? Any new challenges to put me through my paces? Or just a guilty pleasure you’d like me to bake for you.

Thanks for following me through this challenge and I hope to keep sharing even more tasty treats 🤎
