Golden Rule
I think it’s fair to say I would not be in the semi final after this weeks bake!
The idea of baking cheesecakes on a wet Sunday morning seemed like a perfect idea, so I got up nice and early and had all my ingredients ready to go.
Juniors New York cheesecake is one of the best! so I figured I would do the filling and just split it into the individual tins rather than one giant cake.
Problem number 1. I didn’t have enough cream cheese so I had to send Andy off for an early morning shop. Cheers babe!
Problem number 2. I then made too much filling so had to bake the extras in some ramekins.
Problem number 3. Once the cheesecakes were in the oven I thought I had plenty of time to have a nice relaxing shower. Half way through washing my hair, it dawned on me that I was letting the cheesecake bake for an hour which would be the correct time for one whole cheesecake not individual ones which would of course bake quicker. Towel on, shampoo everywhere, I ran down the stairs and took them out of the oven. They were a very uneven colour and as soon as I took them out, they started to sink. I had broken the golden rule of not letting them cool down in the oven first. Damn it! I was so annoyed and had a little strop about the whole situation.
Silver lining - after stropping, I had soon realised that the ramekins were still in the oven and could be cooled down the correct way!
These were nowhere near as good as I would have liked but looking back on the last 7 weeks, I have been quite lucky with how well my bakes have gone. I’ve learnt and continue to learn so much that it was only a matter of time before I found a bake that just hasn’t worked out for me. No matter how it looks, I can’t wait to stuff my face with it whilst watching I’m a celeb! Happy Sunday 🤎
