Chocolate explosion
Now I’m back to work full time, I really want to make sure I keep up with my baking 1. So my life doesn’t revolve around work and 2. So I can get better and share my treats with everyone.
With my job, I don’t get two days off together which can be tough and means I have to plan my time more carefully.
On Thursday I woke up thinking of food (as always) and in the mood to bake cupcakes. I had struggled to get icing sugar and coco powder over the last few weeks so after finally having a successful shop I decided I wanted to give something chocolaty a try. I had ordered a piping kit a few weeks prior off amazon and felt excited about testing out my piping skills.
The cupcakes went really well and I was so pleased that I trusted my gut and didn’t leave them to bake too long because they were so light and moist. I had prepared all my chocolate buttercream and began piping. It wasn’t as easy as I thought but after the first couple I was chuffed that I was getting a lovely pattern however during the piping of cupcake number 8 disaster struck and my piping bag decided to split, it went everywhere! I tried to contain the buttercream so I could at least finish that cupcake but it was a major fail. The last 4 cupcakes had to be iced with a knife, I added a few chocolate chips to hide the lumps and bumps.
Despite the buttercream explosion (and having to order new piping bags), I felt really chuffed with my 8 piped cupcakes and took them proudly into work to brighten up everyone’s Friday. 🤎
